The Maison

"Hi, Can you believe it we're back in humble little Brisbane. We enjoyed our stay greatly..." - Brad, Roberta, Isabelle, Sophie (Brisbane)

The Maison, originally a farmhouse, is said to be the oldest building in our tiny hamlet of La Tournerie. It is a classic old French farm house, stone built and simple, with fine elegant windows and doors.

The Maison has been restored with imagination and style to be welcoming and convenient.

Downstairs

The entrance hall leads, on one side, to the livingroom and, on the other side, directly to a downstairs bedroom, especially convenient for older guests. This room has a double bed or 2 singles. There is an ensuite bathroom/vestiaire with luxurious shower, WC and hand basin and a clothes washing machine.

The livingroom is spacious, 55m2 (nearly 600 sq ft). An open staircase divides it into sitting and dining areas.

The Maison sitting area has a fine stone Charente fireplace with glass-fronted log burning insert.

The dining area with table seating for at least 8 also can serve as a recreation space.

The kitchen, completely remodeled, is of wood and glass, virtually putting the cooks amidst the trees and lawns. Equipment includes double sink, dishwasher, all gas cooking stove with oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, etc.

In the garden we call the "English" park, is The Maison's terrace with a park bench shaded by the venerable wisteria, a large table with umbrella, and a barbecue.

Upstairs

The master bedroom has a full sized double bed and an ensuite bathroom with WC, bidet, hand basin and large corner bathtub. The double "French" windows open onto it's own balcony and views down the "English" park and over the surrounding countryside.

The mezzanine,
with 2 single beds or 1 double, has an ensuite bathroom with shower, WC and hand basin.

The granary (grenier) bedroom, with 2 single beds or 1 double, is large with a roomy ensuite bathroom and tub.

Massive original wood beams and exposed roof structures throughout.

Many families find the "Pet" gates at top and bottoms of the staircase useful .

Private parking space.

The Swimming Pool

The Polynesian Pool is a 15 metres x 15 metres fully fenced in swimming pool with generous sunbathing space on it's wide, surrounding tiled terrace, and a beach, and "Wildcat Island".
