The
Atelier
Since
finishing it's renovation last spring, we've not updated the Atelier photo album with
professional pictures. We just managed to grab these
few "snaps" between visitors'
departurtes and arrivals.
Hopefully they give a general impression. They will be replaced as soon as the
"official" session arrives, later this year.
The
Atelier: Two story gîte with 50 sq metres (500 sq feet) living room; fully equipped
kitchen and large balcony overlooking the swimming pool, gardens and countryside. Two bedrooms
each with ensuite bathroom. Tub and shower, and vestiaire next to the livingroom. Bedrooms on
the ground floor stay cool and comfortable even on the warmest summer days. Throughout are
exposed stone walls and beams, Provence style ceramic tiles and rugs on the floor. Sleeps
4, even up
to 5 IF three are little children.
The veranda overlooks the swimming pool and surrounding countryside. This elevated
veranda easily seats 4 to 6 at it's umbrella shaded table.
All stairs have "pet" gates, which some families with children have found
useful.
Main floor - upstairs
The open plan
living room - Salle de Commune - is on the first floor*. This main room leads
directly onto the
veranda.
There is seating for at least 6, a superb glass fronted, cast iron, log burning fireplace, a DVD-CD player and
bookcase
The island kitchen allows the "cooks" to look out onto the room and enjoy the
landscape beyond. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a refrigerator-freezer, a
dishwasher, microwave oven, gas cooking stove with oven.
The dining room table comfortably seats 6. A full set of dishes, cutlery, serving
crockery and tableware completes the furnishings.

Internet
connection: Broadband & wireless.
Downstairs
The
entrance, gives direct access to the swimming pool and the
car park, as well as the private patio and veranda above.
The master bedroom, with exposed beams and Charente stone walls. It has a
large double
bed, night stands and lamps, chest-of-drawers, clothes hanger and full length mirror. It's ensuite bathroom has a large bathtub along with a hand basin and WC.
The second bedroom is of the same stone and wood-beamed style. It, has two single
beds, a clothes hanger, nightstands and lamps and it's ensuite
bathroom with a shower, hand basin and WC.
Décor and style.
Generally,
the style of the renovation of The Atelier is traditional tradifage pointed Charentaise
stone walls, selected areas of white wall to reflect light, exposed structural wood including
massive beams in the
salle de commune and a wooden vaulted ceiling. The floors are of ceramic floor tiles.
The Swimming
Pool
The Polynesian
Pool is a fully
fenced-in, 15
metres x 15 metres, swimming pool with generous sunbathing space on it's wide, surrounding
tiled terrace, and a beach for "waders" and "beginners", and "Wildcat Island".
